With 28 years of professional experience within PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk and its Group, Mr. Makmun has built a strong career across various strategic and leadership roles.
He joined PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk in 1991 through the Science & Technology for Industrial Development (STAID) program, a government scholarship initiative aimed at providing overseas higher education opportunities for the nation’s top talents.
Currently, Mr. Makmun serves as Acting Director of Commercial at PT Krakatau Baja Konstruksi, a subholding company under PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk. Prior to this role, he was the Division Head of Corporate & Business Development at the parent company.
Throughout his career, he has held various director-level positions across subsidiaries and affiliated companies within the Krakatau Steel Group. These include Director of Technology and Business Development at PT Krakatau Posco for four months, Director of Commercial at the same company for eight months, Director of Commercial and Business Development at PT Krakatau Bandar Samudera for seven months, President Director of PT Krakatau Argo Logistik for seven months, and Director of Finance and Human Resources at PT Krakatau Tirta Industri for one year and ten months.
Before assuming director-level positions, Mr. Makmun developed his career progressively within PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk, starting as an Engineer in a steel processing plant, then advancing to Senior Engineer in Technology Planning, Manager of Strategic Planning, and eventually General Manager of the Program Management Office.
Based on his professional track record, Mr. Makmun possesses strong capabilities and extensive experience in business development and project development, covering all stages from preparation (feasibility studies), procurement (tender processes), to project completion (handover). He also has solid expertise in commercial activities, including market development and product sales.
In addition, he has been actively involved in major corporate strategic initiatives such as establishing joint ventures, executing mergers and acquisitions, and managing Initial Public Offerings (IPO) and rights issues.
His professional experience is supported by various education and training programs, including Leadership Development Program, Risk Management Workshops, Strategic Management, and Leading Growth Strategy.
The largest team he has led was the Commercial Division of PT Krakatau Posco, a joint venture between PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk and POSCO, South Korea.
